The Mims Pose

Updated: Aug 1

It started as a simple gesture.

Unscripted. Unconscious. Arms stretched wide. Head lifted toward the sky. A stance that said: I’m here.

At the time, I didn’t even realize what I was doing. It wasn’t for a photo. It wasn’t rehearsed. It was a feeling—a thankful expression of pride and awe. That feeling when you’ve made it somewhere that once lived only in your dreams. The deep breath that says: Yes. This moment is real.

Over time, it became a thing.

Without even meaning to, I found myself returning to that same pose in new places—on mountaintops, in deserts, near waterfalls, before temples and sculptures. Anywhere that felt powerful. It wasn’t just repetition. It was appreciation.

A tribute to greatness and evolution. Praise to the most high for allowing me to witness such magnificence. A personal mantra made visible through body language of gratitude, strength, and transformation.

It began as a spontaneous celebration but became something deeper:

I call it The Mims Pose.

  • One foot forward — stepping boldly into purpose, into greatness, into the unknown.

  • Arms stretched wide — like I’m embracing the world, welcoming the lessons, the cultures, the connections.

  • Back straight, chest open — showing up unapologetically, standing in truth.

  • Head high — acknowledging where I’ve been and where I’m going.

That's the gist of the simple stance but there isn't really a wrong way to do it. The Mims Pose isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. A way of travel—a way of being. A moment of pause to say: I made it. Not just to this place, but to this version of myself.

It became a signature stamp on my experiences without needing to say a word. And it’s catching on. Friends. Family. Even strangers who’ve followed my journey or met me along the way—I’ve seen them strike their own version of the Mims Pose. Not because I asked, but because they felt it. Because that moment meant something to them, too.

It’s contagious. And honestly? That’s the most rewarding part of this whole thing. To know that my passion can inspire someone else to take up space and be proud of their journey. To say with their whole body:

I’m here. I'm free. I’m grateful. I’m growing.

I never set out to be a symbol. But if my pose leaves a mark—if it encourages someone to stretch beyond, to feel seen, to feel strong—then that’s the legacy I’m proud to carry.

Now, wherever I travel, I leave the Mims Pose as a lasting impression—captured in memory, spirit, and of course photos. Each time I stand with my feet planted and arms outstretched, I recall that I'm not merely exploring the world; I'm becoming a part of it. And now, others are too.
